Sharing is Caring

Day 11

Today is Mental Wellness

Stress, trauma and other situations can take a toll on mental health.

Research shows that mental health refers to cognitive, behavioral, and emotional well-being.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is a “state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community”.

Many of us have strategies to take care of our physical health with nutrition, fitness, sleep, and scheduling routine doctor appointments.

How do you take care of your mental health?

Tips to steward your mental health:

  • Seek the Lord (read & write Scripture, go to a Bible study at a church that obeys the New Testament  doctrine, have obedient faith)
  • Seek professional help from a Christian counselor/therapist
  • Rest
  • Eat nutritious food
  • Move your body
  • Surround yourself with a loving and safe community of people
  • Deep breathing to relax your mind from a constant to-do list and worries
  • Aromatherapy in a quiet space. Fill a diffuser with water and a calming essential oil
  • Talk to someone you trust
  • Journal your thoughts, feelings and emotions
  • Avoid harmful substances
  • Seek help if you are thinking about harming yourself or others
  • Make sleep a priority
  • Enjoy fun hobbies
  • Prioritize your schedule and ask for help

Being good stewards of our mental health is important.

  • MIND –  Renew your mind daily & be mindful of your mental health
  • BODY –  Move your body 30 minutes daily
  • SOUL – Pray and read Scripture daily

Daily Add: Assess your mental health daily & practice a healthy habit to support good mental health
