Day 3
Today is Releasing Emotional Strongholds
Did you know that in the last year 74% of people have been so emotionally stressed they have been overwhelmed or unable to cope?
What are Emotional Strongholds?
The apostle Paul uses the term stronghold in 2 Corinthians 10:3 – 6 NKJV
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
2 Corinthians 10:3 – 6 NKJV
Stronghold is a military term for the capture and destruction of fortresses.
Satan wants to capture and destroy our hearts and minds.
Emotional fortresses or strongholds come in many forms:
- Anger
- Pride
- Envy
- Fear
- Worry
- Poor self-esteem
- Lust
- Shame
Which stronghold are you battling that is making you emotionally and spiritually weak?
Possible Causes of Emotional Strongholds
- Past
- Childhood trauma, grief, hurt, rejection
- Present
- Work, home, relationships, situations, sin
- Future
- Worry about finances in retirement
Research shows that symptoms of traumatic emotional stress can manifest physically in the body.
Through my personal prayer, study of Scripture, ministry training, understanding of Satan, and seeing a Christian counselor I have learned that:
- Having better emotions starts with understanding the root cause of “Why you are feeling the emotion”
- Once there is an understanding of the root cause, a plan to resolve the emotional stronghold can be implemented
That plan starts with God, the creator of heaven and earth.
God created our minds, bodies and souls.
- Each person has a unique and different situation that requires different solutions which may involve seeing a therapist or counselor.
- I saw and Christian counselor to prepare for ministry to ensure that I was well before I started serving others and I use natural solutions for my emotional well-being.
Aromatherapy is one of my main solutions. I use it daily. It is a part of my lifestyle.
